The Art of Joy-Lily
As seen on HGTV, this silk painting was made by drawing the leaves on white silk with a waterproof sealant called UnGutta. The design was then painted with silk dyes in a watercolor style. Rock salt was placed on the wet dye to create texture. When dry, the painting was rolled up in paper and steamed to set the colors. Later it was rinsed to remove the Ungutta revealing the white lines, and finally it was pressed.
(It's become an art quilt!)
